As we stumble upon Halloween, the Pittsburgh 68 Zombie World Series is once again in a dead heat! Two games have been played since our last update: both were zombie victories and played in two of our favorite little game shops: The Compleat Strategist (NYC) and Time Warp Comics and Games (NJ).
Game #62 went down at The Compleat Strategist and was over in three reels. Game #63 was played at Time Warp Comics and Games and went a full four reels. The latter game had the makings of a sunny Survivor victory all the way through the middle of Reel 3… Then things took a real bad turn.
Only five games to go in our sixty-eight game series!

It’s almost zombie time, folks!
To jumpstart Halloween, GameWick Games will be making two special in-store appearances to demo our creepy little zombie game, Pittsburgh 68, A Game of Shuffling Horror! One event is in NYC, the other is in NJ (details and dates below). Event details will be posted on our Pittsburgh 68 Facebook page.
SATURDAY – OCT 26 – THE COMPLEAT STRATEGIST, NYC
12pm – 6pm. Located on 11 E33rd Street, NYC. PH:(212) 685-3880
This iconic game store is packed to the ceiling with games and definitely worth the visit! Located near the Empire State Building and right across the street from Rattle-n-Hum pub.
WEDNESDAY – OCT 30 – TIME WARP COMICS AND GAMES, CEDAR GROVE, NJ
7pm – 11pm. Located at 555 Pompton Avenue, Cedar Grove, NJ. PH:(973) 857-9788
This is the night before Halloween, so don’t be afraid to let your inner zombie come out! Plus there’s a chance you might win something creepy if you play.
For either event, we will be running multiple sessions throughout the day, so you do not have to stay the entire time (though our zombies would love to have you for dinner (and probably will if you show up))!
Come out and play dead with us!

Ron McClung at The Gamer’s Codex has this to say about our creepy little zombie game, Pittsburgh 68, A Game of Shuffling Horror:
“The myriad of zombie games is almost exhausting and it is hard to find one that stands out these days. Pittsburgh 68 turned out to be a rare gem, with subtle complexity and creative depth that made it quite a fun game.”
“Game play is fast and fun. If you like to tell a story or form a zombie movie storyline, this game is great. It has enough complexities to keep your attention, without being overly complex.”

Enjoy!

GameWick Games has released an introductory guide for their zombie card and dice game, Pittsburgh 68, A Game of Shuffling Horror. The “Script for Beginning Play” has everything players need to know to get the zombies shuffling around their game table at home!
Pittsburgh 68 is designed to play like a creepy old zombie flick, and the action of the game is driven by its Shuffling Horror card deck. From the dealing of the movie’s Opening Scene right down to the final fade to black, the script highlights the rules that give the game its unique cinematic feel. Topics include:
– Dealing the Reels
– Running the Opening Scene
– Survivor and Zombie actions
Also highlighted are two rules that can trigger the movie’s grim end: Turning Point and Last One Standing. Two classic zombie movie plot devices that mean the end is near!
A cooperative game until it’s not, Pittsburgh 68 is an eerie good time for 3 to 13 players. This starter script will give readers a good sense of what the game is all about (but even more info can be found on the GameWick Games website). The link to the free Starter Script pdf can found under the Bonus Materials section on their Pittsburgh 68 page.
Slow moving zombies rule!

As October creeps upon us, the final games of the Pittsburgh 68 Zombie World Series begin. Two games were played in Ohio last month and delivered two Survivor wins. This broke the dead heat score of 31/31 and has given the Survivors a two game lead. Seven games remain!
The series began during Halloween week last year.
It’s fitting that we wrap it all up this month in true zombie style!
