The WEGS Fray, Trove Roll
By the bright beard of Ogma, it’s the year-end rolling of the trove! We’re doing twelve rolls on the fabled TABLE I: TROVE PILE GENERATION table. Six rolls to end the year with a bang, then six more to get your new year o’ adventure started.
Every item and almost every bonus you read below is generated by this amazing and yet-to-be-published table. Remember, your hero can claim any of these sweet, sweet treasures for any WEGS game you join us for in 2020 (like at Gary Con, Origins Game Fair, Gen Con, etc).
Nuff said, let’s roll!
Your 2019 Haul – Six Random Trove Rolls
Roll #1. Table V: Weapon Trove | Roll Twice Bonus!
2 Broadhead Arrows. +4 RS
Arrows are retrievable unless a Bad Shot or Wicked Fail is rolled. If so, Frozen Roll chance that the arrow is broken beyond repair.
1 Rapier (Stealth Blade). +3 WS
Use Stealth% to attack. Damage via Warrior Strength + weapon bonus.
Roll #2. CURSED ITEM (Roll Again). Table VIII: Major Trove
Ethersilk Boots (CURSED!)
Realm: Magic. Charges: 8 per day.
Automatic +6% Stealth Rank bonus. Each charge allows free Move+Attack (as per Act Fast! rules) with a +4 MS bonus to movement. The slight stink these boots have is a delightful scent to creatures of the Ether. In addition, the item has an Accursed Bond with the hero’s Wounds score. The higher of the hero’s Wounds rank stats (Prowess or Ruggedness rank) is instantly transferred to the item as if it was its own. Removing these boots eradicates the hero’s own rank. And then there is the matter of the Curse Itself. We’ll circle back on this in a later post…
Roll #3. Table VI: Loot
Magic Skrowl: Scry
Success Roll: 88%. Strength: 8 SPS. Duration: 8 innings (after which upkeep begins).
The caster gains the ability to see an item’s past history to discover its purpose or use.
Roll #4. Table VI: Loot
Ring of Invuln | +8% INV
Realm: Magic. Charges: 8 per day.
When worn, this ring provides a powerful +8% invulnerability. In addition, a charge increases Invulnerability by +20% for one inning. Charges can be stacked.
Roll #5. Table VI: Loot
Ring of Mystic Strength +2 Spell Point Strength
Realm: Mystic. Charges: 8 per day.
A charge increases the user’s Spell Point Strength for one full inning and Spante (or vice versa).
Roll #6. Table IV: Armour
Leather Armour: Light, +5 Armour
Leather armour is not factored for any Move penalty rules.
Your 2020 Haul – Six More Random Trove Rolls
Roll #7. Table IV: Armour Trove
Breast Plate, Leather, +4 Arm%
Leather armour is not factored for any Move penalty rules.
Roll #8. Table V: Weapon Trove | Great Weapons sub-table
Great Bastard Sword (PRW)
Two square striking range (diagonal allowed). If Prowess roll is within your INI range, +1 Damage Die bonus.
Roll #9. Table IV: Armour Trove
Greaves, Half Leg, +4 Arm%
Roll #10. Table V: Weapon | Whacker sub-table.
War Hammer, +3
If Prowess roll is within your INI range, re-roll 1s on the Damage Die allowed.
Roll #11. Table VI: Loot
Ring of Strength, +2 Move Strength (CURSED!)
Realm: Neutral. Charges: 8 per day.
A charge increases the wearer’s move for one full inning and Spante (or vice versa). This is the second cursed item on this year’s roster. As noted above, we’ll circle back and explain how curses work in WEGS in a future blog post.
Roll #12. Table VI: Loot | Copper sub-table
Coffer of Copper
The coffer contains all of the following (all randomly rolled):
Purse with 1885 copper pieces.
Sack with 20 copper pieces.
Ogre’s Sack with 10, 656 copper pieces.
(2) Throwing Daggers, +2 RS
(1) Magic Skrowl: Sniffer
Success Roll: 88%. Strength: 8 SPS. Duration: 8 innings (after which upkeep begins).
The mage conjures a phantasmal terrier with a nose for detecting traps, and concealed or hidden passages. It also can find hidden trails or put on the scent to track down quarry. The phantasm must stay within sight of the caster for the spell duration.
Wow, that might be the biggest coffer of trove ever found in the Wegswyrld.
That bodes well for the new year ahead!

The WEGS Fray, Trove Roll
It’s the great rolling of the turdragon trove! There are six different trove tables in the never-released Odds & Gods Volume I guide : Armour Trove, Weapon Trove, Minor Trove, Major Trove, and Massive Trove. Someday we’ll get that mighty tome finished, but in the meantime, here’s one randomly generated item from each of the aforementioned tables. Get stuffed on these!
Armour Trove : Helmet, Medium, +4 ARM%
Weapon Trove : War Hammer +2 WS
Loot Table : Mystic Potion, Blessed Warrior
Minor Trove : Bow of Quickening (Magic) Short bow.
4 charges per day. Each charge allows automatic fire action. No aim required.
Major Trove : Dimvault Bracers (Magic) +2 RS.
+12 INV%, enchanted (spell protection)
SPS charges per day. A charge allows either (a) night sight, (b) decrease foe’s invulnerability by 40%, or (c) enchant arrow with ethereal damage (2d6 x 4).
Massive Trove : Rod of Retribution (Mystic)
Requires 88% Grace to wield. +4WS damage to struck foes.
If attack roll is equal/less than wielder’s SPS, foe’s armour suffers 2d6 damage.
SPS Charges per day. A charge can be spent to either (a) inflict (d6 x SS) mystic fire damage to foe, or (b) all enemies within 4 SQR suffer (d6 x d6) enchanted mystic wounds. SS = spoints spent; the wielder uses their own spoints to power the weapon’s damage.

The WEGS Fray, Trove Roll
The annual rolling of the trove begins! From December 20 – 31, we’ll be making daily rolls on our magical Table I: Trove Table Generator (d%). This post will be updated with those results. As with prior year results, these items can be claimed by any player who joins us for a WEGS convention game. What wonders will stuff our stockings this year?!?
On the first day of WEGS-mas my GM rolled for me…
Ring of Invuln, +8% INV%
Realm: Neutral. The wearer gains an automatic invulnerability bonus (no Move penalty applies). The ring also has 8 charges per day that can be spent to gain an instant +20 INV% per charge spent (effect lasts thru next spante).
On the second day of WEGS-mas…
The Great Glaive (Two Handed Weapon)
Realm: Neutral. If wielder rolls their RUG INI score or less, a +1 Damage Die bonus is gained. 2 SQR Range (one diagonal allowed).
On the third day of WEGS-mas… We hit a ROLL TWICE ON THE ARMOUR TABLE bonus!
Helmet, Medium +2 Armour Points
Chainmal, Full Metal Jacket +16 Armour Points
On the fourth day of WEGS-mas… We hit a ROLL TWICE ON THE WEAPONS TABLE bonus! Every weapon on this table gains a TABLE II: STRENGTH BONUS roll (an INI Roll that grants a strength bonus, from +1 (Common) to +6 (Exceptionally Rare). You must roll a 32 for that latter bonus. We rolled a 30 though for the scepter below for a +5 WS bonus.
Longsword, +2 WS
Scepter, +5 WS
On the fifth day of WEGS-mas… we rolled a 95 and hit the MASSIVE TROVE table (range for this is 94-96).
The Skolarum Ring
The power of this ring is dizzying and quite detailed in the notes. What follows is just a summary… Grants +2 SPS. Number of charges per day is equal to the ringbearer’s SPS score (which is heighted due to wearing the ring). Charged effects are: (1) Sense Surge (automatic Sense Magic or Sense Mystic), (2) Ethereality, (3) Vitality (auto heal (d6+4)x10 wounds), (4) Enchanted Immunity (77%). The ring also absorbs any Insanity points the wearer suffers due to spellcasting. Now, this ring also has some quirks (there’s an INI% chance that the ring is insane) and other unpleasant traits. You’ll have to wait for the release of our long-promised Trove book to find out all the vicious details…
On the sixth day of WEGS-mas…
Mystic Potion: Fervor
Works just like the spell of the same name, without the need of Sense Mystic. However… the fine print in the book reads: “There is a (d6xd6)% that the potion is tainted”. Via that dice roll, a 10% chance was established… and then I rolled that success. So, then we refer to the Tainted Potion section where the Kreator gets to pick one of the following effects: Trollspittle, Wraithbreath, Delusion, or Berzerker Brain. Full details of these fun effects noted in the book!
On the seventh day of WEGS-mas…
Mystic Skrowl: 5 Spells
A mystic skrowl has d3 spells upon it; there’s a Frozen Roll chance that it contains an additional d3 as well. However, there’s a (d6 x # of spells)% chance that any skrowl is malevolent… The spells on this skrowl are: (1) Blessed Warrior, (3) Cursed Dice, and (1) Sphere of Light. But… is the skrowl malevolent? You’ll have to wait until its use to find out…
On the eighth day of WEGS-mas…
Studded Leather Bracers +4 Armour Points
On the ninth day of WEGS-mas…
Stealth Blade : +1 Dirk (thrusting dagger)
As a Stealth Blade, the wielder uses their Stealth% score for attacks. In addition, if the attack roll is within their Stealth INI Zone, the attacker suffers -20 INV%.
On the tenth day of WEGS-mas… Rolled a 91 for a Massive Trove table roll!
Enchanted Ring (Magic) : Hands of Ice
4 charges per day. Holds 12 spoints. Immediately blast Hands of Ice spell with no spoint cost. Spell is blast at 88% ING and 8 SPS strength. The ring bears the enchantment, not the wearer. Its spoints can be used for spell upkeep or to benefit the wearer’s actions at any time. If drained of all spoints, it can still blast the spell (wearer would then pay upkeep with their own spoints).
On the eleventh day of WEGS-mas…
Leather Breastplate : +4 Armour Points
On the twelfth day of WEGS-mas..
Magic Potion: Flaming Fryball
Works just like the spell of the same name, without the need of Sense Magic. Spell is blast at 88% ING, 8 SPS, and 8 inning duration. (Fine print in the rulebook reads: “There is a (d6xd6)% that the potion is tainted”.)
A very merry WEGS-mas to all – hope to see you ’round the game table in 2018!

The WEGS Fray, Trove Roll
To coincide with the 12 Days of Christmas, it’s time for the annual rolling of the trove! Over the course of the next twelve days, we randomly determine trove via our magical and yet-to-be-released Table I: Trove Table Generator (d%). As per the D% in its title, percentile dice are rolled to find the treasure that awaits. Let’s roll!
On the first day of WEGS-mas my GM rolled for me…
Scale Armour: Skaly Jacket
+12 Armour
In addition to its amazing armour point value, a bonus roll determined this to be Elfland Scale, made of natural material (non-metal) and thus highly valued by elfs who disdain metal.
On the second day of WEGS-mas, my GM rolled…
Dimvault Bracers
+1 Ranger Strength and Charged Effects
Realm: Magic. In addition to the +1 RS that these bracers grant to any bow attack, they also grant the wearer +12 enchanted invulnerability. Charges are spent in three ways: (1) decrease a ranged target’s invulnerability by 40%; (2) charge an arrow with enchanted damage that causes (2d6 x 4) ethereal wounds; (3) night vision (RS x 4 SQR range) for eight innings; for a spante spoint per inning, the ability to see the Ether Realm can also be attained. SPS Charges per day.
On the third day of WEGS-mas, my GM rolled for me…
Ring of Shielding
8 Charges
Realm: Magic. Each charge reduces a Damage Die roll by d6 points. It can counter standard or enchanted effects. Multiple charges can be activated to shield off the damage of a single attack; if the first charge does not counter the full damage, a second charge can be activated to achieve that effect (as many charges as are needed can be expended). Note: this affects the Damage Die result, not the total damage.
On the fourth day of WEGS-mas, my GM rolled for me…
Heavy Leather Armor, +7 ARM (armor)
On the fifth day of WEGS-mas, my GM rolled for me…
+3 Shard Sword (Obsidian)
On the sixth day of WEGS-mas, my GM rolled for me…
Potion of Healing: Forest Brew (7 swigs)
Realm: Magic. Each swig heals (d10 x Ranger Strength) wounds.
On the seventh day of WEGS-mas, my GM rolled for me…
Ring of Invuln, +8% INV + charged effect
Realm: Neutral. 8 charges per day. Wearing this ring automatically enhances the character’s invulnerability by +8%; this bonus is not factored for any move penalties. In addition, a charge can be spent to gain a +20% invulnerability bonus which lasts from the moment of activation thru to the next spante. Charges can be stacked; for example, three charges can be spent for a +60% bonus. The item’s auto bonus and charged effect is a regular invulnerability bonus (not enchanted).
On the eighth day of WEGS-mas, my GM rolled for me…
Leather Breastplate, +4% ARM (armor)
On the ninth day of WEGS-mas, my GM rolled for me…
Potion of Spoints: The Grand Elixir (5 swigs)
Each swig heals (INI Roll, reroll 1s and 2s) spoints.
On the ninth day of WEGS-mas, my GM rolled for me…
Mystic Potion: Fervor (2 swigs)
After consumption, the potion functions as a Level 4 spell cast by a Level 8/88 sage. It remains ready for use for 2d6 innings; after this, upkeep is paid by the user.
On the tenth day of WEGS-mas, my GM rolled for me: (5) +2 Darts
On the eleventh day of WEGS-mas, my GM rolled for me: Amulet of Vitality, +16 spoints
On the twelfth day of WEGS-mas, my GM rolled for me: +2 Great Maul
Great Weapon Rules: 2 square range, 1 diagonal allowed. If attacker rolls their INI or less on the attack roll, +1 Damage Die bonus.
As always, if you join us for any convention game in 2017,
you can claim one of these fabulous items for your character’s use!
